VISITOR/ TOURIST VISA
WHAT IS A VISITOR VISA?
A visitor visa, also known as tourist visa is a temporary resident visa that allows a foreign national to enter and stay in Canada temporarily.
For citizens from any visa-required countries will need to apply for and to get a visitor visa to travel to and enter Canada as a visitor for up to 6 months.
A visitor visa can be issued for single entry or multiple entry. A foreign national can apply for a visitor visa if they have met “visitor visa eligibility criteria” and have a valid reason to visit Canada. The reasons can take the form of a business visit, a tourist/exploratory visit, family visit, a transit visa, a diplomatic visit or a medical care visit.
If the foreign national is from a visa exempt country, an electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) is required instead of a visitor visa.
